Prior to that, he worked as the Health and Safety Director for SEIU Local 121RN and spearheaded the California Safe Care Standard Campaign in California. Richard worked as a Project Manager for the Chair of the SEIU Healthcare Division and as the Webmaster and online organizing lead at the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. He has worked on campaigns to raise awareness and change laws surrounding workplace violence, trade agreements, wage theft, and organizing not-yet-organized workers around the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico.

As a union activist for most of his working life, Richard has both directly and indirectly supported the labor movement by way of educating, mobilizing, and organizing across a broad spectrum of industries and sectors, and continues to train, coach, and consult with communications and safety and health curriculum. To help save the world, he is also a published poet and musician. He is also a partner in Labor Side Communications, LLC and the founder of Union Review.

12118613_1172956146053579_4941057855494926201_nRegemralph Corpuz co-directs policy and advocacy work at SoCalCOSH. Regem is active in working around issues where immigration, labor, and health all intersect and are impacted by policy. He is currently attending UCLA, completing his dual Masters in Public Health and Public Policy.

Regem is interested in a “health-in-all” policies approach to labor issues on both the local and global context. This is evident in his work with SoCalCOSH, where he has been directly involved in various health and safety/labor efforts that SoCalCOSH and its partners are part of, which include the California Safe Care Standard campaign, the Make L.A. Sweatshop Free campaign, the Fight for 15 campaign, the Don’t Waste L.A. campaign, among others. Recently, he completed a policy white paper regarding Cal/OSHA’s upcoming Workplace Violence Prevention in Healthcare regulation, and has spoken various times to Cal/OSHA’s Occupational Safety and Health Standards Board.

download_20140716_214210Yosselin Rustrian is SoCalCOSH’s Teen Leader and co-directs our Young Worker program. Yosselin is a 19 year-old graduate of Birmingham Community Charter High School. Growing up as a Latina, she has witnessed many acts of discrimination to not only Latinos but to the youth of America which is why she believes young people should always be aware of their rights because they are the future of this country.

Yosselin is confident that her time with SoCalCOSH will help her grow as a leader and impact people’s lives. She believes in the importance of people speaking up for themselves and what they believe in by being as active as you can be in your community. She has participated in many rallies and conferences with the Fasting For Children being the latest. Her journey as an advocate for the youth is just staring but she plans to make a big impact.
